Just another post for some reflections

Recently, I had a lot of things on my plate and I didn’t manage to find the time to write a post. In my main job scope, there is an increase demand for more items to be delivered with limited resources and support. Hence, it causes puts more pressure onto me and draining my energy.

At the same time, I am very involved with activities outside of work. At this point of writing, I am helping out with a coding organisation that seeks to empower and help beginners to transit into tech. Because of my years of experience as a data instructor, I felt that there is something of value I can impart to my fellow associates in the organisation.

I have a lot of passion to teach and help people to transit into the tech career. It gives me a lot of energy when I was able to inspire and give new insights about the industry and guide them on the steps to get into the industry.

The topic for today is more of a personal reflection of what I have been doing in the first half of 2021. Time really flies when you are busy. However, it can be overwhelming to the point that I decided that I just dropped some of the projects so as to preserve my mental health. It seems unprofessional but at the same time I don’t see that it will add value to my growth so there was no point in continuing the project.

I guess it is nothing wrong to be taking care of yourself. I felt the burn out because of all the appointments and projects that I am holding. On top of that, I am still pursuing my own personal growth by taking up for courses and actively watching online tutorials.

Because of the pandemic, I felt that I have not really got a good break because I did not take any leave to go for vacation. My current work project is also taking a toll on me because it is very time sensitive, meaning if I am take a day off, I will have items piling up on my plate.

Nonetheless, it has been an interesting year because I have been awarded scholarships from Udacity, going to be a keynote speaker in July, conducting data workshops for beginners. Though I have not gone the time to recover, I believe that should be my plan for the next half of 2021.

Though half of 2021 has ended, I am certainly looking forward to the journey of the remaining of 2021.
